Del Rio Pea Gravel 3/8″ - Sample
Southern California quarry producing small to medium-sized river pebbles. There are 2 types of these pebbles, Imperial Del Rio from the Salton Sea and Del Rio Pebbles from the South Coast. Amazingly, they are so very similar in color and shape that most people in the landscape and rock trades could not tell these two pebbles apart. Perfect for water gardens and fountains, these pebbles look beautiful underwater. Del Rio is available in five sizes from 1/4 inch to 6 inches. Del Rio is used in landscaping and hardscaping and as exposed aggregate in buildings, walkways, stepping stones, and planters.
Pea gravel, the 3/8" size Del Rio pebbles are natural or "true" pea gravel, which is defined as "naturally rounded river rock.
Tons vs. Yards and Square Feet.
In most cases, we charge by ton and have the receipts from the scale house at the quarry to show upon request. Materials sold by the yard tend to have very inaccurate amounts in the trucks. Amounts depend on the size of the loader bucket, how well the material was scooped up, and who was supervising the loading of the truck. Scale House totals don't lie, so why take a chance on losing money and time with how many square feet, scoops, skips, and or dumps were made in loading the truck?
Architects, public agencies, contractors, and owner-builders requiring a competitive bid for the materials and transport costs should E-mail us with material specifications, the amount and date needed, and the buyer's contact information. We typically employ trucks with carrying capacities ranging from 17 to 26.5 tons.

End-dumps from 24 to 25 tons

Product Samples
California Building Material Supply believes that for most consumers and end users of these landscaping or building material products, the best location to view most of these products is at the actual site where they are going to be used. This is particularly true for existing homes and commercial locations that are being renovated or re-landscaped. Samples of most materials can be delivered and evaluated by you on-site for you to make the most informed choice possible. Materials are sold per the specification of the stone type, product brand, and basic sizes.
Samples are shipped via United State Postal Service, Priority Mail. We can get about 16 pounds of material into a large flat rate box. Samples are sent with an invoice on Net 10-Day Terms. When ordering your samples use the Purchase Order function at checkout and enter SAMPLES. This will allow you to make a purchase without having to pay for the samples at that time.

Product Specifications and Uses
This product is effectively used in pathways, walkways, driveways, planter beds, landscape ground cover, utility areas
One Ton of Decomposed Granite, Decorative Gravel or Rock Covers:
240 square feet. 1" deep. This is too shallow.
120 square feet. 2" deep. Thins out over a short amount of time.
100 square feet. 2-1/2" deep. Very good coverage.
80 square feet. 3" deep. Ideal long-term coverage.
60 square feet. 4" deep. Best for materials of 2" or larger.
One Square Yard of Decomposed Granite, Decorative Gravel, or Rock Covers:
300 square feet. 1" deep. This is too shallow.
150 square feet - 2" deep. Thins out over a short amount of time.
125 square feet - 2-1/2" deep. Very good coverage.
100 square feet - 3" deep. Ideal long-term coverage.
75 square feet - 4" deep. Best for materials of 2" or larger.
The square foot coverage per ton of gravel will vary slightly with the surface and designs of the project, waste, etc. will affect area coverage. The information is based on average ton and cubic yard amounts. This decorative building stone has naturally occurring colors and shade variations. These give this stone the natural beauty and uniqueness that causes its appeal. Color tone change can sometimes occur with aging or maintenance practices of the location it is installed therefore exact matching of existing stone may not always occur. During processing or transportation dust will adhere to the rocks and change its appearance on arrival. Still, we guarantee all stones to be true to the specific brand name, type, and size ordered or a complete exchange including transportation costs will be made.
After installation is completed the rock should be rinsed off to show the natural beauty and character.
