Tumbled stone softens the edges and the surface, providing a natural slightly rounded edge and a very smooth softer surface to walk on. Unlike other sandstone flagstones, Fossil Creek is very hard and has the lowest water absorption rate in the industry. This makes Fossil Creek the ideal stone for use around pools, ponds, and seasonally damp areas.

The Fossil Creek Stone is quartzite sandstone formed 300 million years ago it is one of the hardest durable stones known quarried in the Eastern New Mexico deserts.
Fossil Creek Stone is a material with consistent coloring with neutral beige to earth tone shades and scattered swirls. It looks great in classic, modern, and contemporary settings. This stone comes in a variety of sizes and shapes. It is more frequently used for patios and walkways.
Tons vs. Yards and Square Feet.
In most cases we charge by the ton and we have the receipts from the scale house at the quarry to show upon request. Materials sold by the yard tend to have very in-accurate amounts in the trucks. Amounts depend the size of the loader bucket, how well the material was scooped up and who was supervising the loading of the truck. Scale House totals don't lie, so why take a chance on losing money and time with how many square feet, scoops, skips and or dumps were made in loading the truck?Architects, public agencies, contractors and owner-builders requiring a competitive bid for the materials and transport costs should E-mail us with material specifications, amount and date needed and buyers contact information. We typically employ trucks with carrying capacities ranging from 17 to 26.5 tons. Decomposed granite, crushed rock, gravel, sand and similar materials are typically hauled in; Truck n Transfers from 24 to 26.5 tons, End-dumps from 24 to 25 tons Bottom and Side Dumps 25 tons Super-10's from 10 to 17 tons

Product Samples
California Building Material Supply believes that for most consumers and end users of these landscaping or building material products the best location to view most of these products is at the actual site where they are going be used. This is particularly true for existing homes and commercial locations that are being renovated or re-landscaped. Samples of most materials can be delivered and evaluated by you on site for you to make the most informed choice possible. Materials are sold per the specification of the stone type, product brand and basic sizes.
Samples are shipped via United State Postal Service, Priority Mail. We can get about 16 pounds of material into a large flat rate box. Samples are sent with an invoice on Net 10 Day Terms. When ordering your samples use the Purchase Order function at checkout and enter SAMPLES. This will allow you to make a purchase without having to pay for the samples at that time.

There is always going to be a slight variance of square footage from pallet to pallet even if the weights are similar. The square foot coverage per ton of flagstone will vary with each project. Designs of the project, the average stone thickness, size of joints, pattern cuts, waste, etc. will affect area coverage. The information is based on average full pallet weights.
Flagstone is priced by the pound, we can deliver this flagstone in any quantity you need for installing a flagstone walkway or patio.
Standup and Patio flagstone that is 1" thickness is best installed on a concrete base with mortar and is typically are best install by an experienced mason.
Standup and Patio flagstone that is 2" thickness is good with either a concrete base or sand, gravel, decomposed granite or cement a base is easily installed in landscapes by people with basic home improvement skills.
