This dark brown, with elements of rose, pink and green in it is a shale decorative rock material comes from Central Arizona and creates a bold rugged landscape.
Decorative rock materials larger 1 inch are very effective creating contrasting size elements in landscapes. These larger sizes are often used for borders in the landscapes.
Minus materials such as this are ideal ideal for level or very mild sloping landscapes. Minus materials contain both larger rock to the general screen size down to small DG like fines. See our video for a visual explanation.
Screened materials are ideal for complete erosion control. These larger decorative materials without the fines will prevent or minimize erosion in landscapes. The steeper the slope, the larger the rock size needed to stabilize the soil on the slope. Water retention or flood control basins will utilize rock materials of 6 inches or more.

In most cases we charge by the ton and we have the receipts from the scale house at the quarry to show upon request. Materials sold by the yard tend to have very in-accurate amounts in the trucks. Amounts depend the size of the loader bucket, how well the material was scooped up and who was supervising the loading of the truck. River rock and cobbles are most commonly hauled in Truck n Transfer units and End-dumps to about 25 tons.
Rubble and boulders hauled in bulk are transported in End-dumps and Super-10's. Loads range from 10 to 24 tons per load.
Moss Rock and Specialty Boulders are banded to pallets and shipped via flatbeds to about 24 tons per load.
Supersacks, palleted rock and specimen boulders are hauled on flatbeds in amounts to about 24 tons.
Flagstone and other specialty stone materials are haul on flatbeds in amounts up 24 tons per load.
