Traditional Pure Oyster Shell

Traditional pure oyster shell is crushed shell with no decomposed granite blended into it, for court builders who want to mix their own surface or who are following the traditional method exactly.

Being straightforward about the tradeoff: a pure oyster shell surface, or a shell and flour mix without decomposed granite, is considerably more difficult to install than a blend. It takes months of watering, rolling and grooming to compact properly. It is the historically correct approach and it produces a beautiful court, but a blended oyster shell and decomposed granite surface reaches a playable condition far faster and grooms more easily thereafter.
