Yucca & Dasylirion
Yucca plants for sale, along with Dasylirion, Nolina and Beaucarnea. Where an agave reads as a solid mass, yucca gives a finer, spikier texture and a vertical accent, which makes it the better choice against a wall, at the back of a bed, or anywhere the silhouette matters more than the footprint. Yucca rostrata and linearifolia are the specimen forms here.
These are among the toughest plants in the nursery plants catalog. Most take more cold than an agave will, ask for even less water once established, and hold their shape for decades. Red yucca, more correctly Hesperaloe, is the low flowering form people usually mean when they search that name, and it works as a mass planting where the tree forms work as single specimens. Plant into sharp drainage, keep decomposed granite clear of the crown, and compare agave for the broader rosette shapes.
